Den danske bartender, Nick Kobbernagel Hovind, fra cocktailbaren Ruby, vandt stor cocktailkonkurrence i Berlin

Nick Kobbernagel Hovind repræsenterer Danmark med cocktailen, The Sloe Sling, der bygger på nordiske ingredienser og indeholder kirsebærlikør, Slåen gin og Taffel akvavit.

Cocktailen Singapore Sling er en klassisk cocktail, der serveres på barer verden over, og som bl.a. består af den klassiske kirsebærlikør. Men selv gamle klassikere har brug for fornyelse og derfor afholder Peter F. Heering en af verdens største cocktaildyste, The Sling Award, hvor verdens bedste bartendere får lov til at være kreative og mixe deres egen version af Singapore Sling.

44 lande stillede med hvert deres bud på en kreativ bartender til at starte med, og de fem bedste dystede i finalen i Berlin 7. til 8. oktober .

Ritz Carlton-hotellet i den tyske hovedstad Berlin dannede i tirsdags rammerne om finalen i en af verdens største cocktailkonkurrencer, The Sling Awards. Fem af verdens bedste bartendere og mixologer fra henholdsvis Danmark, Canada, Singapore, USA og Estland dystede om førstepladsen med hver deres nyfortolkning af den verdenskendte cocktailklassiker, Singapore Sling. Danmarks repræsentant Nick Kobbernagel Hovind fra den populære københavnske cocktailbar Ruby løb med sejren for sin nordiske nyfortolkning af Singapore Sling.

The prestigious global jury members and the equally as important and “Peoples Vote” slung into action inspired by the Slingsipped, enjoyed and ultimately decided on the 2014 Peter F. Heering Sling Award global winner. Nick Kobbernagel Hovind, Denmark, “The Sloe Sling” has been announced as the winning Sling – and arguably that this Sling is now “The Sling Heard Around the World!”

The Ritz Carlton, Berlin held court for the five global finalist who hailed from Canada, Singapore, The United States, Denmark and Estonia and each Sling was tasted, discussed, tasted again and well thought over until the sling inspired libation tally was complete from the global jury.

Apart from the honor and media exposure, Nick Kobbernagel Hovind, Denmark, also received € 500 and a stunning silver Stelton shaker from Denmark The 2014 Peter F. Heering Sling Award, which has grown from 27 participating countries last year to now 44 participating Sling inspired countries, has elevated the competition to one of the world’s greatest and largest cocktail competitions.

Danish bartender Nick Kobbernagel Hovind was named global winner of the Peter F. Heering Sling Awards at the Ritz Carlton, Berlin.

Five global finalists who hailed from five different countries served their own take on the Sling to the six judges including cocktail historian, David Wondrich and David Rosengarten of Forbes Magazine.

Nick Kobbernagel Hovind impressed judges with his Sloe Sling to take home the title, €500 prize and silver Stelton Shaker.

The Peter F. Heering Sling Award has grown from 27 participating countries last year to 44 participating Sling-inspired countries.

Adéle Robberstad, Peter F. Heering CEO said: “The creativity that these bartenders put into their Sling cocktail creations, has raised the standard for what a Sling can be and how truly fashionable the Cherry Heering brand is and always will be.

“The global participation was flattering considering the volume of cocktail competitions around the world, though we look at the Sling Awards as more than just a competition, we see it as an opportunity to honor one of the most classic cocktails of all-time with a Cherry Heering on top,” Robberstad said.

The four other global finalists were Taoufike Zrafi, Canada; Sigrid Sarv, Estonia; Canada’s Christian Lobrino Manzanillo and Jon Krau, USA.
