1 part Sweet Vermouth
1 part orange juice

Cherry Heering has been produced since 1818 and is an essential ingredient in the world famous drink the Singapore Sling. The drink was inven- ted by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon (嚴崇文) at Raffles Hotel, Singapo- re in 1915. Today, savouring this legendary pink cocktail in Raffles famous long bar is considered to be one of the true rites of passage of world travel.

The Singapore Sling may be the most famous classic Heering drink, but it is not the only one. In 1930 a new and exciting recipe appeared in the Savoy Cocktail book. The drink was called Blood and Sand (from the 1922 film, starring Rudolph Valentino as a bullfighter) and it was made from equal parts scotch, fresh orange juice, Cherry Heering and sweet vermouth. Beautiful, tasteful – simple, yet sophisticated. What more can you ask from a cocktail?
